Staff Case Study
Kerri Stringer – Assistant Manager within Residential Care
“The company want to develop all staff to the highest standards. Career development is amazing within Restorative; the company makes the staff and young people feel valued… I feel this is a lifetime job.”
Kerri came to work at Restorative in October 2017 as a Residential Support Worker. Kerri built up her skills, with support from the senior management team, progressing to a Senior Support Worker role. Now, continuing her development, Kerri has been successful in obtaining the role of Assistant Manager within one of our homes.
“The seniors and managers who I work with are very supportive, and the company is built around positive working relationships. This has helped me to progress my career within Restorative SCS.”
Before her role with Restorative SCS, Kerri worked with adults with learning disabilities and autism.
“I felt there wasn’t a lot of room for progression in the company I was previously at, and I wanted to be on a better career path. My sister was already in a post within Restorative, and, after hearing of all the amazing things she was doing and how she was loving going to work, and due to my experience with adult with learning difficulties, I felt I could bring more to working with children and young people and so I applied for a role at Restorative. I initially worked across both residential and supported living. I loved my job straight away and knew this was the career path I wanted to stay on.”
Talking about her development within the company, Kerri says, “Since working for Restorative, I have gained my NVQ Level 3 and will soon be applying to get onto my NVQ Level 5. I feel that the company has a lot of progression and are always supporting the care team to widen their knowledge and skills. The company ethos of development is one of the reasons I joined. I feel the company want to develop all staff to the highest standards. Career development is amazing within Restorative; the company makes the staff and young people feel valued”.
“The care and support provided for children and young people is outstanding, with the children’s views and wishes always the focus. There are some tough times in working in social care but with the support and guidance from management this helps you to develop the skills needed.”
“I came into this role feeling like I would change a young person’s life, this is sometimes not possible. But just knowing I am giving support and life skills as well as some amazing memories makes the role so satisfying.”
Talking about her future within Restorative, Kerri says, “Again, the progression within the company is amazing and I would love to progress to an Area Manager role. I feel this is a lifetime job. I have never worked for a company so supportive and with excellent career progression”.
“If you are willing and want to progress, there are opportunities with Restorative SCS with an amazing team. I have worked in a couple of the settings, which have received overall outstanding for protection of children and young people, leadership, and management.”
