Staff Case Study
Paige Gibson – Senior Support Worker within Residential Care
“I would advise anyone with a true passion for helping young people to come onboard.”
Paige is a Senior Support Worker within our residential children’s homes. Prior to working for Restorative SCS, Paige worked in various childcare settings, including nurseries, preschools and out-of-school clubs, with children aged from six months to 11 years.
Starting with us as a Support Worker, Paige quickly progressed to a Senior Support Worker role, continuing to develop even further with us she is due to start her Level 5 qualification in children and young people. So far, in her time at Restorative, Paige has also completed various other training courses, including:
- Safeguarding
- Team Teach
- Sexual Health
- Drugs and Alcohol
- Reporting and Recording
Talking about her role at Restorative, Paige says, “I get enjoyment out of my job role, building close and professional attachments with the young people in the home. They come to me at those times when they need support and comfort”.
Paige also loves the ethos of the company and the model of care Restorative works too, which allows the staff to support the young people with a therapeutic approach.
Paige talked about her long-term goals. “I aim to progress within the organisation, step up to Deputy Manager and hopefully into a Registered Manager role.” This is something Restorative SCS will support Paige with all the way. Paige also hopes one day to foster a young person, and believes that working in a residential children’s home is great experience for her one day becoming a foster carer.
“I would advise anyone with a true passion for helping young people to come onboard. Residential children’s care needs more quality staff to help guide and advise young people at a crucial time in their lives. Commitment and dedication to the young people and job role is paramount to these young people.”
