The opportunity
We’re looking for an experienced, exceptional and proven leader in children and young people’s residential social care to be the Service Manager for our residential care services and manage our high-quality provision at a service-wide level across West Yorkshire.
This is a unique opportunity for a talented leader, passionate about driving excellence in children and young people’s residential care, to work with Restorative SCS at a senior management level within the organisation. If you’re a committed, qualified social care professional, passionate about making a difference to young people’s lives and driven to enable, support and develop others, and a service – this is your chance to join an outstanding, supportive and progressive social care team.
You will not only lead on the quality assurance for Restorative’s already outstanding residential care service, in line with all up-to-date policy, procedures and regulations, including case auditing and evaluating quality and impact of practice, you’ll support the registered managers in their day-to-day of the homes you have responsibility for. You’ll inspire the management and care teams of the homes to drive continuous improvement and provide oversight and hands-on support, while always demonstrating that you put young people’s voices at the heart of service design and delivery.
Responsible for the performance of Restorative’s residential care service, you’ll also support human resources with the recruitment and retention of managers and care teams with exceptional capabilities and resilience within an established culture of excellence and innovation in children and young people’s social care.
The person
You’ll need to be a dynamic, committed leader and manager, suitably qualified and experienced as a professional in children and young people’s residential care. Ideally you will already have management experience in children’s residential care, including as a Responsible Individual.
You’ll need to be flexible to meet the needs of this demanding, multi-faceted role and be committed to your own continuous learning and development in social care, understanding how this directly contributes to better outcomes for young people. You must be receptive to mentoring, with a willingness to progress your own, as well as other’s, careers and practice. And relish the opportunity to work within a specialist young people’s care provision for a progressive, non-hierarchical organisation and leadership team.
Our approach
We work hard at Restorative to ensure children and young people who are looked after in residential children’s homes, receive the highest possible standard of care, within holistic, positive settings. We follow a model of care that’s innovative within the industry; prioritising continuity of care and a strengths-based approach. It’s a model that ensures the success stories of many of the young people we work with, and improves their outcomes for happier, more successful lives.
Essential criteria:
- Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management (or equivalent qualification)
- Eligible to become registered as an Ofsted Registered Responsible Individual when required
- Exceptional leadership, management and motivational skills
- A genuine commitment to looked after children and anti-oppressive practice
- Embedded understanding of the complex nature of the services users we support, reflecting this through resilient practice on a day-to-day basis
- Clear understanding of all relevant and up-to-date legislation surrounding children and young people’s residential care and Ofsted
- Ability to induct, develop and appraise managers and other team members within the Residential Care Service
- Experience of, and ability to support during live Ofsted inspections and audits
You will report to the Restorative SCS Operations Director in your day-to-day work and receive individual mentoring and full support to help you in your role, and progress. Training and career opportunities are excellent at Restorative, as well as the potential for personal development, in a friendly, approachable and communicative team.
