Malham Circular Walk

Young people from Restorative Social Care Services recently enjoyed a memorable and uplifting day in the heart of North Yorkshire, taking on the iconic Malham Circular walk. The trip offered not only breathtaking scenery, but also a valuable opportunity for personal growth, teamwork, and outdoor exploration.

Setting off from the picturesque village of Malham, the group began their journey towards the awe-inspiring Malham Cove. Spirits were high as the young people and staff tackled the climb up the steps to the cove, demonstrating determination and resilience. Reaching the top, they were rewarded with spectacular panoramic views stretching across the Yorkshire Dales—an unforgettable moment that sparked a real sense of achievement.

Continuing along the route, the group made their way towards the dramatic limestone gorge of Gordale Scar. Surrounded by towering cliffs and rugged natural beauty, the young people embraced the sense of adventure and discovery that the landscape offered.

One of the highlights of the day was the visit to Janet’s Foss waterfall. Despite the chilly conditions, a few of the young people enthusiastically took the opportunity to go paddling, showing great bravery and a willingness to step outside their comfort zones. Laughter and encouragement from the group made this a particularly special moment.

The circular walk concluded back in the village of Malham, where everyone reflected on a day filled with challenge, achievement, and enjoyment. The experience provided a fantastic chance for the young people to build confidence, strengthen relationships, and create lasting positive memories.

Overall, it was a highly successful and enjoyable day for everyone involved—showcasing the power of outdoor activities to inspire, connect, and uplift young people in care.
