Restorative Social Care Services is proud to celebrate an exceptional achievement at Rooley House, one of our residential children’s homes, which has recently been inspected by Ofsted and rated Outstanding in all areas.
Overall experiences and progress of children and young people – Outstanding
The inspection highlighted the outstanding progress and experiences of children and young people, praising the home’s highly skilled and knowledgeable staff who have built trusting, secure relationships with the child living at Rooley House. Inspectors noted the team’s continued commitment to providing a stable, nurturing environment that enables children to develop a strong sense of permanence, safety, and belonging.
Ofsted recognised how effectively staff support children to rebuild and strengthen relationships with people who are important to them. This has led to meaningful progress, including regular family visits and positive shared experiences. The report also celebrated the way staff go above and beyond to ensure children feel valued and celebrated. One notable example included staff supporting a child to attend an awards event some distance away, ensuring the occasion was truly special by creating a prom-style evening with a full pampering experience—a moment that reflected care, pride, and genuine joy.
Helping and Protecting Children and Young People – Outstanding
In the area of safeguarding and protection, Rooley House was again judged to be Outstanding. Inspectors found that staff have an excellent understanding of the home’s model of care, which strongly informs day-to-day practice. Regular, high-quality clinical supervision supports staff to deepen their understanding of children’s complex needs and behaviours.
The team was described as highly competent and resilient, with extensive therapeutic skills and knowledge. This enables them to respond confidently and appropriately to any concerns, ensuring children feel safe, understood, and supported at all times.
Effectiveness of Leaders and Managers – Outstanding
Leadership at Rooley House was also commended as Outstanding. The registered manager was praised for having excellent oversight of the home, completing regular audits, and maintaining care of the highest quality. The manager works closely with a clinical psychologist and has developed a strong framework of support for staff, including frequent, detailed supervision sessions. These ensure staff feel confident in recognising and responding to the complex needs of children.
Feedback from staff was overwhelmingly positive, with team members describing an amazing team dynamic built by supportive and inspirational leadership. External professionals echoed this praise, describing staff as skilled, responsive communicators with an in-depth understanding of the child and their needs.
This Outstanding outcome is a true reflection of the dedication, compassion, and professionalism of the team.
