Restorative SCS Sports Day 2025

A Celebration of Fun, Friendship and Team Spirit.

Young people and care staff from 6 different homes across the Restorative Social Care Services network came together recently for a day filled with laughter, games, and good food at the second annual Restorative SCS Sports Day.

Hosted at one of the children’s homes, the event brought a burst of energy, community spirit, and friendly competition as young people from across the service joined forces in classic sports day fun, there was no shortage of enthusiasm, tumbles, and team spirit.

This year’s event built on the success of last year’s inaugural Sports Day, bringing even more homes together and encouraging positive relationships between young people and staff in a relaxed, playful environment.

Care workers and young people alike got involved, often blurring the lines between competitors and cheerleaders. Staff weren’t afraid to get stuck in, with plenty of light-hearted falls and good-natured rivalry adding to the day’s atmosphere.

Of course, no Sports Day would be complete without a well-earned meal, and the sizzling barbecue kept everyone fuelled and smiling throughout the afternoon.

One young person said, “It was just such a good day. I didn’t know some of the other young people before, but we were all laughing and helping each other. I can’t wait for next year!”

The event also highlighted the power of restorative social care in action—building trust, encouraging participation, and fostering a sense of belonging through shared experiences and positive engagement.

Staff members echoed the sentiment, with one staff commenting, “It’s more than just a sports day—it’s a day where we see young people come out of their shells, support each other, and have a genuinely good time. That’s what makes it so special.”

Photos captured moments of joy, team spirit, and playful competition, showing clearly that fun was the true winner of the day.

Plans are already underway for Sports Day 2026, with organisers promising to go even bigger and better next year. With the bar already set high, it’s safe to say that the Restorative Sports Day is fast becoming a much-loved annual tradition.
