Litter-Picking Club: Making a Difference Together
What started as one young person’s brilliant idea at Princeton House has turned into a fantastic community initiative!
One of the young people living at Princeton House shared that she would really like to do some litter picking in the local park. Heather, the Home Manager, thought this would be a wonderful opportunity to invite other young people from across Restorative SCS to get involved and turn the idea into a brilliant little community event.
Young people and staff from The Old Vicarage, Ogden Moor and Bridge House all came along to support the idea. Together, everyone spent time litter picking around the local park, chatting, laughing and working as a team to help make the area cleaner, tidier and a more enjoyable environment for everyone.
But the fun didn’t stop there! Afterwards, Princeton House invited everyone back to the Home for a small buffet and a mini dance party.
The atmosphere was full of smiles, music, and plenty of pride as the young people celebrated what they had achieved together. Everyone said how much fun they had and how much they enjoyed being part of the day.
So much so, that the group has already shared their wish to make this a monthly event, with each Home taking it in turns to host the afterparty and choosing a local park or green space to help tidy and care for
This was an amazing example of what can happen when a great idea is supported and shared. It showcased the young people’s motivation, thoughtfulness, teamwork and growing sense of community, alongside the encouragement and commitment of our care staff.
