Celebrating Diwali Together: A Day of Colour, Culture, and Community!
Last week, one of our care homes was filled with light, laughter, and creativity as we came together to celebrate Diwali, the Festival of Lights!
To mark the special occasion, residents and staff enjoyed a wonderful trip to a Sikh temple (Gurdwara), where we were warmly welcomed by the community. Everyone was amazed by the beautiful decorations, the peaceful atmosphere, and the chance to learn more about Sikh traditions. We even got to see the Diwali lights shining brightly around the temple — a true symbol of hope and happiness.
Back at the home, the celebration continued with a fun henna art session. A lovely lady visited us to show her amazing skills in creating traditional henna designs. Residents had beautiful patterns painted on their hands — swirls, flowers, and hearts — all in rich, dark brown henna. There were lots of smiles (and some giggles!) as everyone admired each other’s designs.
The day was a wonderful way to learn about different cultures, try something new, and spend time together. Our Diwali celebration reminded us that light can always shine — especially when we share it with others.
Happy Diwali from everyone at Restorative SCS
