Celebrating Vietnamese New Year

At our service, we are always proud to support young people in celebrating their identity, culture and faith. Recently, our Bradford Outreach Support Worker, Zaynab, had the privilege of accompanying one of our Vietnamese young people to mark Vietnamese New Year in a meaningful and memorable way.

On 17th February 2026, Zaynab and the young person travelled to Leeds to visit Wat Buddharam Buddhist Temple. The young person had expressed a heartfelt wish to visit the temple to say prayers for the coming Vietnamese New Year, and we were delighted to help make this happen.

Upon arrival, they were warmly welcomed by a monk and kindly led into a beautiful, tranquil prayer room. The space was filled with colourful shrines, glowing candles and a peaceful atmosphere that encouraged reflection and gratitude. Together, Zaynab and the young person read prayers for prosperity, good health and happiness for the year ahead. It was a calm and uplifting experience, offering the young person time to connect with their faith and cultural traditions.

Supporting young people to maintain links with their heritage is incredibly important to us. Moments like these help build confidence, strengthen identity and create a sense of belonging.

After leaving the temple, the celebrations continued with a visit to a local Vietnamese street food restaurant, Pho 37. The young person was excited to share a taste of home, and the food was described as “amazing.” Enjoying delicious pho together was the perfect way to end a special day.

We are so proud of Zaynab for her thoughtful support and of the young person for embracing and sharing their culture. Experiences like this highlight the importance of personalised care and the positive impact of meaningful community engagement.

We look forward to continuing to celebrate the diverse cultures, faiths and backgrounds of all the young people we support.
