Fantastic Summer Day Out at Blackpool Pleasure Beach
Young people from all three zones of Restorative Social Care Services, supported accommodation — Calderdale, Kirklees and Bradford — enjoyed a fantastic day out to Blackpool and Blackpool Pleasure Beach during August as part of the organisation’s summer holiday activity programme.
The trip provided a brilliant opportunity for young people from across the support accommodation services to come together, enjoy themselves and make the most of the summer holidays.
For many of the young people, the day was about much more than simply enjoying the rides and attractions. It provided an opportunity to step away from some of the pressures and stresses that can come with being a young person, spend time in a different environment and create positive memories with their peers and staff.
It was fantastic to see so many of the young people engaging positively with one another throughout the day. New friendships and positive relationships were developed, while existing relationships were strengthened through shared experiences, laughter and plenty of fun.
Staff also played an important role in making the day such a success, supporting the young people throughout the trip and joining in with the positive atmosphere. Seeing young people from different services interacting so well together was particularly encouraging and highlighted the importance of creating opportunities for them to socialise, build confidence and develop positive relationships.
There was certainly no shortage of smiles and laughter throughout the day, with the young people embracing the opportunity to enjoy the rides, attractions and everything Blackpool Pleasure Beach had to offer.
The trip is a great example of the positive experiences created through Restorative Social Care Services’ summer activity programme. Providing young people with opportunities to have fun, try new experiences and spend quality time with others is an important part of supporting their wellbeing, personal development and independence.
A huge well done to all of the young people who took part, and a big thank you to the staff teams across Calderdale, Kirklees and Bradford for helping make the day such a memorable and enjoyable experience.
Most importantly, it was wonderful to see the young people having fun, enjoying each other’s company and simply being young — creating memories that they can look back on with a smile.
