Well done to Amar House, Ofsted rated good in all areas
In February, Ofsted inspectors visited Amar House and the three young people who live there, to inspect and rate the quality of the care provided. We are pleased to report that a rating of good in all areas was received.
Inspectors considered the overall experiences and progress of the young people at Amar House, taking into account also how well they are helped and protected, as well as the effectiveness of our leaders and managers.
Over two days, the inspectors spoke to the children, manager and members of the staff team and other professionals who work with the children to get a good picture and had many positive things to report as a result.
“Children seek out the support of staff when they are worried, and the manager and staff respond sensitively and appropriately. The high level of individualised care and support that the children receive ensures that they all make good progress from their starting points.”
It was also noted how the children choose and enjoy a range of “exciting activities” including “swimming and singing lessons” and helping out in the community with litter picking and delivering food to the homeless, which help to “to give the children a sense of pride”.
A recent trip to Disneyland Paris and other holidays the children at Amar House have been supported to experience was noted to “enrich the lives of the children and help them to improve their confidence, social skills and communication skills”.
Staff support of children was also a particular mention, for how they were “creative in engaging the children during the pandemic”, and throughout the COVID-19 various lockdowns, which was a challenging time for everyone.
Very well done to all the team at Amar House for a great inspection process and result!
