Kym Brant – Senior Outreach Support Worker – Supported Accommodation Services

Kym is Restorative’s Senior Outreach Support Worker providing floating support to over 11 young people within independent living settings.

Kym started working in social care due to her personal experience of bringing up her own child, who has extra needs, this made Kym ambitious to help other young people in similar situations.

“If anyone is wanting to start a career in social care, my advice would be – go for it – it will probably be the best decision you will ever make. You get the chance to make a huge difference to the children and young people you support. There are lots of opportunities to develop and progress your career within Restorative.”

Prior to working for Restorative SCS, Kym worked for six years at Calderdale Council supporting children, young people, and their families, and she has also worked in local schools supporting pupils with special educational needs.

On discussing what Kym gets out of working in social care she says, “I feel I get instant rewards when supporting the young people who reside in our outreach properties, helping them to meet their personalised outcomes and goals, when it comes to living independently.”

Kym’s future goals within the company are to achieve a Level 4 in children and young people, alongside supporting the company with the expansion of the Outreach Team into the Kirklees and Bradford areas. With a background working with Ofsted, Kym also hopes to support the Restorative Group Living Provisions, which will in the near future become governed by Ofsted, to achieve an outstanding report.
