Walking Snowdonia to raise money
On Sunday 9th July our Senior Registered Manager, Jo O’Donnell will be climbing Snowdon with a group of her friends.
Jo walks this walk yearly in memory of her best friend Dava, who tragically took his life two years ago, as a way of raising awareness about mental health. However. this year, the walk will raise money for her friend Andrew ‘Shandy’ Overton, who needs essential alterations to his family home and prosthetic legs to get back to walking.
Earlier this year, Andrew was rushed to the hospital feeling unwell. He was put in an induced coma at the hospital, but Andrew already had Sepsis, and his chances of survival were low. Thankfully Andrew survived, but he had to undergo life-changing surgery. Both legs needed to be amputated below the knee due to the Sepsis taking over. Prior to his illness, Andrew was a self-employed builder, and has a young family, so any funds raised will be much appreciated to help them in this difficult time.
