End of an era and new beginnings

The End of an era at Grove House as Oliver (The first resident to move into Grove House when the home opened in Bradford in November 2022) has now successfully moved into his own property.

Oliver moved to Grove House on the 2nd of November 2022, and is a popular young person, who has made significant progress during this time. Oliver has worked hard with the staff team to achieve his goals, that will prepare him for his next chapter in life. Oliver shared that he is going to miss living at Grove House, and the staff team, but is grateful for the independence skills he has learnt over the past 2 years.

Oliver achieved climbing all of the Yorkshire 3 peaks whilst at Grove House and also secured his first job.

The staff team at Grove House threw a leaving party for Oliver and a former staff member who moved to Dubai and recently returned to the UK paid him a visit and wished him all the best in the future. This came as a great surprise to Oliver, and he enjoyed an evening of food, party games and music.

Oliver took part in a quiz put together by the staff team, which included lots of funny moments from his time living at Grove House. One questions in the quiz was “what was the date of his brother’s birthday” Oliver laughed a lot about this as he is a twin!

The manager, Lisa Mullally wanted to ask the question of what factor sun cream should he use due to Oliver returning home last summer very burnt after only using factor 10 on a very hot day and being very pale skinned , Oliver knew the answer straight away and shouted factor 50!

Oliver was supported to move to his new house with assistant manager Katie McManus and Support worker Ben Hodgson and has now settled in and is looking forward to living independently, and a positive future.

Good luck Oliver, and everyone at Restorative Social Care Services wishes you all the best for the future.
