Restorative SCS Celebrate Eid

Young people and staff across Restorative SCS homes recently celebrated Eid, please see how a few of the homes celebrated.

Bridge House

Bridge House staff hosted the second annual lifting of the fast, Ramadan festival on 14th March. Staff from the home, including the manager, F Naveed and also residential support worker, N Akhtar, spent a number of hours throughout the day, cooking up some wonderful authentic Asian cuisine, to mark the important celebration in the Muslim calendar. Young people from the home were also keen to help out with the food preparation and were also joined by the arrival of another young person, from sister home, Ogden Moor. 

As part of the celebration of the lifting of fast, and as is the custom, staff and young people ate food on a special mat, seated around on the floor. Young people engaged really well and were keen to understand the different customary traditions, as well as try some of the lovely food.

Young people and staff are already looking forward to next year, although for Faiza and Nat, this was a time for reflection 😊

Supported Accommodation – Zone 1

Kent House & Outreach (Zone 1) Eid party

A lovely day was had by all young people and support staff. A lovely traditional Asian buffet was arranged for our young people who really enjoyed, and a few came back for seconds. The young people really enjoyed their time together at the party and played their favorite music throughout. One of our young people played a song that they had written and sung themselves which was amazing.

Supported Accommodation – Zone 3

Wibsey House, Grove House and Bradford outreach all came together to celebrate Eid and held a party at Grove House. A great evening was had by all, enjoying food and drink. A previous resident of Grove House also attended and had some food and drink.

Swimming Challenge Completed

You may remember we previously shared earlier in January 2025 that one of Restorative SCS directors, Dave Copping had set himself the incredible challenge of swimming 2025 lengths in January 2025 in support of Overgate Hospice.

Dave completed the challenge 6 days before the end of the month, but continued to swim daily during January 2025 and finished the month with a total of 2275 Lengths swam (Over 34 Miles). In the process Dave has raised an incredible £2935 in support of Overgate Hospice! Please join us in saying a massive thank you to Dave for his incredible efforts 🏊‍♂️

Dave would like to thank everyone who supported him, encouraged him, and donated to the cause.

Team Rollocks Set New World Record!

As a follow up to a previous article we did, we are pleased to announce that ‘Team Rollocks’ Sponsored by Restorative SCS have set a NEW WORLD RECORD 🏆

Congratulations to the Team Rollocks (Claire Allinson, Tony Emmins, Suzanne Issacs, Jason Garland & Richard Allinson) who set out from San Sebastián de La Gomera on 11 December 2024 as part of the World’s Toughest Row – Atlantic 2024 and successfully rowed the 2550 nautical miles across the Atlantic Ocean, arriving in Nelson’s Dockyard, Antigua on 28 January 2025 with a time of 47 Days 21 Hours and 40 Minutes.

They have also become the oldest mixed sex team of five to row the Atlantic Ocean.

Congratulations from everyone at Restorative SCS on this amazing achievement.

Grove House celebrate Vietnamese New Year

The young people living at Grove House recently celebrated Vietnamese New year , as one of the young people in the home is from Vietnam. The young person wanted to share his traditional culture of celebrating the new year, this involved making food which he spent the day with staff preparing for the other young people in the home to try. All the young people in the home then sat down and ate a meal together, the young person explained that in Vietnam people will always eat Chung Cake, and Thit Kho Tau as part of a tradition. The young people and staff spent the rest of the evening listening to Vietnamese music and playing party games. The young person was so pleased he could share a small part of his culture with staff and the other young people in the home.

Big Restorative SCS Christmas Bash

The first ever ‘Big Restorative SCS Christmas Bash’ was held at Restorative SCS Head Office on 23rd December 2024. The event was an amazing success, and we would like to say a massive thank you to the ‘Events committee’ for making it possible.

The young people got to meet Santa in his grotto, receive and present, eat, drink, and enjoy Christmas songs. There were a few guest appearances at the party, Mrs Clause, the Grinch, elves and even a human Christmas tree and a giant Turkey!

We hope to make this an annual event, thanks again to everyone who made this possible.

Elf on the Shelf Competition Results

Restorative Social Care Services hosted a Christmas ‘Elf on the Shelf’ Competition throughout December 2024. We asked young people to think of the most fun and creative ‘Elf on the Shelf’ creations and asked them to choose their best one and share a picture so it could be entered into the competition.

We had a great response with young people getting involved and being very creative with their ideas. It was a tough job for the judges, Pam, Karl and Sarah (Head Office Staff).

The results were as follows:

Christmas Hampers Thank You – Lloyds Banking Group

Restorative SCS would like to say a huge thank you to the Lloyds Banking Group for kindly donating Christmas hampers to all our Childrens homes and group living homes, and also individual Christmas bags to all the young people living independently. The Lloyds Banking Group have continued to donate the Christmas hampers for several years now and they are always greatly appreciated.

Restorative SCS Christmas Jumper Day

Restorative Social Care Services are pleased to announce that we are taking part in Save the Children’s Christmas Jumper Day on Thursday 12 December! By pulling on our Christmassy knits and donating, we’ll be supporting children in the UK and around the world to keep safe, healthy, and learning. We’ll be helping them fight for the future they deserve. The money we raise could go towards some amazing things like:

£2 could buy a packet of seeds for a family in Kenya to grow their own food, after drought has killed their crops. 

£8 could buy a blanket to keep a child in Ukraine warm through winter.

£15 could pay for two weeks of super-powered peanut paste to help a child beat hunger. 

£20 could buy enough supermarket vouchers for two children in the UK.

£40 could provide a family in Gaza with a Baby Kit to give them the items they need to provide basic care to their infant.

The Big Restorative SCS Christmas Bash

THE BIG RESTORATIVE CHRISTMAS BASH!  Santa Claus is heading to the Restorative SCS head office and will be accompanied by some of his elf friends, and the Grinch may also be making an appearance.

The young people will get the chance to meet Santa, get a small gift from him, mingle with others, listen to Christmas music, eat some delicious food and dance to some Christmas songs.

It’s true what they say, there ain’t no party like a Restorative Party.

We can’t wait to see all of your Christmas jumper posters, your Elf on the Shelf shenanigans, and to see you all in your most festive party wear at the Big Christmas Bash.
